Admire the sky in a room and live in firsthand the conquest of the Moon thanks to virtual reality. These are two of the experiences that can be tried by visiting the Hoepli Planetarium in Milan. Inaugurated in 1930 by the will of the Swiss Ulrico Hoepli, founder of the eponymous publishing house specializing in scientific publications, who decided to give this small jewel to the city, the neoclassical building was built in an area of the public gardens of Porta Venezia. Today it is open to the public and carries out a constant didactic and educational work through special events for children and adults thanks to the association L’Officina del Planetario, composed of a group of professionals, technical-scientific and humanistic training, with many years of experience in the field of museum education. The Moon Vr Experience is a completely new show, born from the collaboration with Way, in which viewers, who have fallen into the night of the starry sky, listen to the story of man’s race to conquer space, passing through the most significant wallpaper from the satellite Sputnik to the mission to the moon (20/25 minutes). Each spectator is invited to wear an Oculus visor and thus become the true protagonist of the narration. The story turns into an immersive and exciting virtual reality experience, which starts from the launch pad of Saturn V up to Neil Armstrong’s first step on lunar soil (5/6 min). The overall duration of the show at the Planetarium is around 30 minutes, but The Moon Vr Experience can also be tried in other contexts by contacting Way.
